Job summary

S&P Dow Jones Indices in New York seeks a Lead Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy large-scale distributed systems for its indices prototyping platform. You will work with a team to build scalable, fault-tolerant services deployed to the cloud and contribute to the platform's evolution.

The role requires mentoring junior engineers, guiding technical direction, and delivering high-quality code using modern front-end and back-end technologies while staying current with industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of strong Java experience in designing, developing, testing and deploying complex projects.
• Strong Java skills with concurrent and distributed systems.
• Experience with Java 8 features, especially Streams API.
• 5+ years with Spring-based technologies (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud) and Hazelcast caching.
• 5+ years SQL knowledge and experience.
• Experience designing and implementing microservices-based solutions; unit/integration tests; SQL queries and data modeling.
• Exposure to AWS cloud (EC2, ECS, Load Balancer, Lambda, S3).
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of applications using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify bottlenecks and fix bugs.
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
• Develop and implement applications that are highly scalable and fault-tolerant.
• Utilize cloud services for application deployments.
• Implement containerization strategies for applications.
• Develop user interfaces using modern front-end technologies.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
