Job summary

Citi in Irving, Texas, United States is seeking a seasoned software engineer to design and implement middleware applications using Java and Spring Boot, with AI-powered tooling to accelerate development and enforce architectural patterns.

You will optimize databases (Oracle, SQL, MongoDB), drive CI/CD adoption with AI-assisted testing and security scanning, mentor juniors, and collaborate across product, QA, and operations to deliver high-quality software.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java 8+ with multithreading and JVM internals.
• Spring Framework (Boot, MVC, Data JPA, Security) experience.
• Designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Oracle SQL and MongoDB experience including schema design and performance tuning.
• CI/CD tooling experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Git with branching strategies (Gitflow).
• Unit/integration testing with JUnit/Mockito.
• Familiarity with SOAP/REST web services, XML/JSON.
• Hands-on AI development tools (Devin, Copilot, Claude, Codex).
• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and integrating AI into dev workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of complex middleware using Java/Spring Boot.
• Architect and optimize database interactions with Oracle, SQL, and MongoDB.
• Drive adoption of CI/CD pipelines and AI-assisted processes.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and operations to define requirements and deliver software.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote AI-driven development practices.
• Research and experiment with AI technologies to boost developer productivity.
• Participate in code reviews and apply AI-assisted analysis.
• Troubleshoot production systems using AI-driven anomaly detection and logs.
• Contribute to strategic roadmap for middleware platforms using data-driven insights.
• Conduct feasibility studies, estimates, IT planning, risk assessment with AI aid.
• Monitor development lifecycle and provide user/operational support with AI dashboards.
• Provide regulatory compliance checks and security considerations with AI tools.
• Assist in documenting solutions for clients with AI-assisted methods.
