Job summary

The City of Pomona Police Department is seeking a qualified Senior Jailer to lead the Jail Operations Unit. This role guides staff, ensures safe custody of inmates, coordinates bookings and transportation, and maintains accurate records while performing operational duties.

Qualifications

Four years of experience in jail operations.
Equivalent to a high school diploma supplemented by college courses work in criminal justice.
Associate Degree and some supervisory training are desirable.

Responsibilities

Lead, plan, and review the work of staff responsible for providing jail services.
Train assigned employees in methods, techniques, and equipment usage.
Verify work of staff for accuracy and compliance with standards.
Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
Attend to public inquiries courteously and provide information within area of assignment.
Process and monitor inmates, including booking, fingerprinting, medical screening, and custody verification forms.
