DDOT is seeking a hands-on Field Network Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and operation of a secure ITS network across Washington, DC. The role focuses on uptime, safety, and reliability in mission-critical operations for traffic signals, CCTV, and IoT devices.

Responsibilities span DMVPN, Metro Ethernet transport, IPsec VPN, routing, QoS, and security compliance. Travel to field sites and data centers is expected; valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Field Network Engineer with senior technical responsibilities in ITS.
• Experience design, deployment and operations of secure, highly available networks.
• Ability to work in field and data center environments with uptime emphasis.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and support Cisco DMVPN hub-and-spoke and spoke-to-spoke networks.
• Configure IPsec VPN, GRE tunnels, NHRP, and tunnel interfaces.
• Implement dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) over DMVPN for failover.
• Design redundancy with LTE/5G backups.
• Monitor tunnel health, latency, and throughput across VPNs.
