Job summary

Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative seeks a Senior Technical Analyst – System Administrator to manage and support SMECO's IT networks and systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to security and reliability.

The role requires a bachelor’s or advanced IT degree or equivalent experience, four years in network operations, and hands-on expertise with Linux/Windows, virtualization, AD/LDAP, SSL/TLS, and cloud/hybrid environments. SMECO offers competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in IT/CS; experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
• Four years of progressive experience in network operation, configuration, and project management.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and enterprise network security principles.
• Expert-level security hardening, patching, and administration across Linux/UNIX and Windows Server environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support SMECO’s IT networks and systems with minimal supervision.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and network issues; identify long-term solutions.
• Coordinate with IT programmers on applications and system projects; work with vendors and internal teams.
• Assist with IT help desk operations and equipment administration; support risk management procedures.
• Contribute to cybersecurity, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
