About The Role

Located onsite at our Albuquerque, NM facility, the Senior IT Systems Engineer will be responsible for the implementation, administration, and operation of the Windows Server platform and operating system environments, including:

• VMware
• Kubernetes
• Linux
• Windows Server and Client

Responsibilities

• Enable Rocket Lab Engineers globally by leveraging platform technology to design, manufacture, and manage next-generation rockets and space systems.
• Provide subject matter expertise and support for our platforms, operating systems, and infrastructure.
• Perform upgrades and maintenance focusing on continuous improvement for reliable and secure infrastructure.
• Manage project planning and deployment for platform initiatives.
• Support configuration management by implementing standards for deployment and management, ensuring compliance with policies and cybersecurity standards, improving system reliability, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery, and maintaining comprehensive documentation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in IT and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (total 12+ years).
• 2+ years in a platform-focused technology role.
• Strong knowledge of VMware, Windows, Configuration Management, or Automation.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Desired Skills

• Scripting, automation, or Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with O365, Azure, and/or AWS.
• GPO Policy, Group, Computer, and User Administration in complex environments.
• Knowledge of security frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST 800-171, and related technologies.

• Specific vision abilities, physical ability to commute, and ability to work in environments with dust, fumes, and noise.
