Job summary

NEW Water is seeking an experienced IT Systems & Cybersecurity Engineer to lead enterprise infrastructure and safeguard critical public utility systems. You will balance proactive cyber defense, modern datacenter administration, and strategic IT project leadership to ensure continuous availability and resiliency across our operations.

This role drives infrastructure health, security governance, disaster recovery, and technology strategy for multi-site networks and cloud systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or a related field (an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered).
• 6+ years designing, developing, and administering enterprise systems, networks, and modern datacenter environments, with cybersecurity governance and policy execution background.
• Deep understanding of server/network virtualization, high availability architectures, multi-layered endpoint/network defense, automation scripting, and root-cause incident troubleshooting under pressure.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license; industry-standard certifications such as Security+, CompTIA+ highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Architect & Administer Infrastructure: Manage enterprise servers, virtualization, multi-site networks, and cloud-based systems.
• Lead Cybersecurity & Disaster Recovery: Defend assets, monitor anomalies, patch management, incident response, and disaster recovery architectures.
• Drive Technology Strategy & Projects: Lead infrastructure rollouts, evaluate upgrades, integrate OT/ICS, and inform budgeting.
