Job summary

SIXGEN is seeking an I.T. Specialist to join a seasoned team supporting federal clients. The role requires a TS clearance, extensive Linux and Windows experience, and the ability to design secure development environments.

The position is hybrid—2–3 days on-site in Sterling, VA and 2 days remote—offering comprehensive benefits and professional development opportunities within a collaborative, mission‑driven company.

Qualifications

Linux administration including deployment, maintenance, and config of multiple distributions.
Experience architecting sensitive, classified development systems and enclaves.
Virtualization and containers, especially ProxMox VE, and Docker.
IT maintenance experience for programs.
Familiarity with encryption and PKI tools including PGP, step-ca, and full disk encryption.
Windows Server and Active Directory services including DNS/DHCP, GPO, WSUS.
End-user Windows 10/11 and MacOS support.
Scripting and IT automation with Bash, Python, and PowerShell.
Network management: VLAN, VPN, SSH tunneling, firewalls, routing, Wi‑Fi.

Responsibilities

Provide meaningful IT support to federal customers and internal teams.
Design, deploy, and support engineering, development, and corporate IT environments.
Communicate effectively with coworkers, vendors, and customers and collaborate with IT staff.
Be adaptable to evolving requirements and deadlines and continuously learn new skills.
Available for after‑hours maintenance and 24/7 incident response when needed.
