Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking an experienced IT System Administration – Senior Specialist in Shoreline, WA. You will lead system and network administration, drive infrastructure upgrades, and advance security across TMC networks and tunnel life-safety systems.

You will guide daily operations, set standards, and work with partners to ensure reliable, secure technology support for transportation operations and public safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to troubleshoot complex IT system issues and make independent technical decisions.
• Knowledge of IT hardware and software installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Windows OS, Office apps, Active Directory Group Policy, iOS devices, and Adobe products.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage IT projects affecting division-wide operations.
• Provide technical consultation and customer-focused IT support.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with collaboration skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize competing assignments and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to a respectful, inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities

• Perform network and system administration for diverse technologies within the NWR TMC.
• Design, procure, implement, and maintain data center, server, network, and storage infrastructure.
• Collaborate with agencies and media to share traffic data and video systems.
• Define strategies for integrating disparate operating system environments with in-house traffic software.
• Analyze and resolve highly complex compatibility issues with new hardware or software versions.
• Administer infrastructure via automated technologies and virtualization.
• Support and maintain TMC servers, interfaces, and application environments.
• Provide technical consultation to ensure viable system design and maintenance.
