Job summary

City and County of San Francisco's Department of Technology is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead complex modernization programs across the City. The role is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid work arrangement and an anticipated duration up to 36 months.

The PM will manage cross‑functional teams, coordinate with vendors and city departments, and ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget while aligning with governance standards and security requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: bachelor's degree in a related field; four (4) years of experience implementing and managing large-scale information systems projects; or eight (8) years of experience.
• Desirable qualifications include PMP certification, experience in public sector, familiarity with ITIL/Agile.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, multi-year IT modernization projects from planning through implementation and operational transition.
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, budgets, resource plans, and success metrics.
• Develop and maintain project charters, work plans, risk registers, communication plans, and executive reporting.
• Coordinate technology modernization efforts involving cloud services, ServiceNow, infrastructure and enterprise applications.
