Job summary

Rocket Lab USA is hiring a Senior IT Systems Engineer I - Platform to design, implement, and operate platform environments across VMware, Kubernetes, Linux and Windows. This onsite role based in Albuquerque supports global engineers and drives automation and standardization across IT infrastructure.

You will lead upgrades, deployments, and configuration management initiatives with Ansible, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and cost-conscious operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in IT and a bachelor's degree or equivalent years of working experience (9+ total years).
• 3+ years in a platform-focused technology role.
• In-depth experience with Ansible.
• In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes, VMware, Linux Configuration Management, Automation, and/or Infrastructure as Code.

Responsibilities

• Enable Rocket Lab Engineers globally by leveraging the latest platform technology to design, manufacture, and manage rockets and space systems.
• Provide SME guidance to deliver and support IT systems via platform infrastructure management and project delivery.
• Lead upgrades and maintenance with a focus on continuous improvement for reliable, secure infrastructure.
• Lead project planning and deployment for platform infrastructure projects (VMware, Kubernetes, Linux, Windows) in support of Annual Operating Plan goals.
• Champion configuration management standards for deployment and management of platforms via automation deployments to ensure compliance, reliability, HA and DR.
