Job summary

Rocket Lab's IT team is seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer I - Platform to design, implement, and operate platform environments across VMware, Kubernetes, Linux, and Windows.

Based onsite at our Albuquerque, NM facility, you'll lead upgrades, drive continuous improvement, and guide automation initiatives with Ansible to ensure reliable, secure infrastructure and cost-effective operations across global teams. You will mentor teammates, coordinate with IT governance, and maintain documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IT experience and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of working experience (9+ total).
• 3+ years in a platform-focused technology role.
• In-depth experience with Ansible.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, VMware, Linux, and Windows configurations.

Responsibilities

• Enable global Rocket Lab engineers by leveraging platform tech to design, manufacture, and manage systems.
• Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to deliver IT systems efficiently.
• Lead upgrades and maintenance with a focus on continuous improvement for reliability and security.
• Plan and deploy platform infrastructure projects including VMware, Kubernetes, Linux, and Windows.
• Champion configuration management with automation deployments to ensure compliance, reliability, and cost control.
