Job summary

Fluence Energy, LLC is seeking a Senior IT/OT Engineer (m/f/d) for a hybrid role in Germany (Erlangen/Berlin). You will lead network and cybersecurity work for the Fluence BESS control system integration with TSO SCADA systems, configure secure networks, document infrastructure, and guide field engineers through commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer engineering, information technology, or computer science (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years of OT/Networking experience in power utility or related industry; EMS/SCADA knowledge.
• Expertise in OSI layer models and deploying network configurations.
• Proficient in remote access VPNs, site-to-site VPNs, routers, firewalls, switches (Cisco and industrial), SD-WAN, Meraki.
• Experience with Linux, Python and shell/bash scripting; familiarity with AWS, OpenStack, Docker, GitHub.
• Knowledge of high voltage electrical equipment (inverters, transformers, I/O racks, telecom, controllers).
• Strong communication skills; fluent English; German or other languages beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project team for network and cybersecurity aspects of the Fluence BESS control system integration into TSO SCADA systems.
• Configure networks, interfaces, and cybersecurity to meet TSO/customer requirements.
• Document existing network infrastructure, protocols, and cybersecurity strategies.
• Guide field engineers during commissioning/testing across network topics.
• Assess and address network and cybersecurity challenges; communicate risks to stakeholders.
• Manage interfaces to clients and sub-contractors for network compliance during Tender and Project execution.
• Develop test procedures and execute FAT/SAT to reduce commissioning time; support lab testing of prototypes.
• Stay current with Fluence products and projects at site and enterprise levels.
• Maintain change control procedures and documentation; report to leadership as needed.
• Support KPI development for the control system technical support.
