Job summary

Southern Arkansas University is seeking an IT Specialist (Network/OS) to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable LAN/WAN architectures across campus, supporting mission-critical systems and campus-wide services on site.

The role involves developing enterprise network standards and Zero Trust designs, conducting capacity planning, troubleshooting complex issues, and leading network projects from planning through implementation while guiding engineers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and engineering enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructures with advanced routing, switching, SDN, and high-availability architectures.
• Experience integrating hybrid cloud, data center, and enterprise connectivity for scalability and reliability.
• Experience implementing secure network architectures using segmentation, firewalls, VPNs, zero trust, and access controls.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable LAN/WAN architectures supporting mission-critical systems.
• Develop standards, modernization strategies, and Zero Trust designs for enterprise networks.
• Troubleshoot, capacity plan, optimize performance, and coordinate incident response across network infrastructure.
• Provide guidance to leadership and engineers on network engineering and IT service delivery.
• Lead network projects from planning through implementation and monitor contractor performance.
