Job summary

The City of Houston’s Finance Department seeks a Financial Analyst to support the management and reporting of finances for Houston Information Technology Services (HITS). The role performs in-depth examination of revenue and expenditures to support leadership decisions and contributes to the IT Financial Management Roadmap with cost optimization and governance efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field.
• Three years of professional experience in finance, economics, budget analysis or a closely related area are required.
• A Master's degree may substitute for two years of the experience requirement.

Responsibilities

• Process financial documents (budget transfers, expenditure corrections, journal entries) as instructed by assigned groups.
• Assist in the annual budget submission and monthly financial operations reporting (MFOR) for HITS cost centers.
• Perform routine variance analysis of restricted accounts and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
