Job summary

AttainX Inc. is seeking an experienced IT Engineer IV to support NOAA’s National Weather Service in Silver Spring, MD. This on-site role focuses on enterprise architecture, modernization, and security planning for on-premises and cloud systems.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in software engineering or related fields, with an AWS Solutions Architect – Professional certification and strong documentation skills. Must be a US citizen eligible for NOAA Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in engineering and 10+ years in software engineering or related field.
• Current AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional certification.
• Experience defining and executing systems engineering processes, including requirements analysis and lifecycle assessment.
• Experience developing system architectures, data flow diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of on-premise, cloud, or hybrid infrastructure with AWS/Azure.
• Familiarity with federal security frameworks (NIST SP 800-53, FIPS 200).

Responsibilities

• Define and execute systems engineering processes for NWS portfolios with developers and stakeholders.
• Document current architectures, configurations, dependencies, data flows, and network connectivity.
• Develop target architecture views and evaluate cloud approaches and integration options.
• Perform systems planning, performance analysis, and capacity planning for reliable operations.
• Identify integration gaps, bottlenecks, and architectural inconsistencies.
• Coordinate findings and actions with the engineering team; provide progress updates.
