Job summary

The Lead Software Engineer will be the primary technical lead for NOAA’s NWPS and related OWP platforms, operating in a cloud-native AWS environment. You will guide full-stack maintenance, CI/CD, and security/compliance while ensuring 24x7 high availability during severe weather events.

You will drive DevSecOps, IaC with Terraform, and cost optimization, while collaborating with hydrologists and leadership to deliver reliable data dissemination services.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field.
Minimum 5 years of progressive software engineering and cloud data solutions experience (10+ preferred).
Experience building scalable, public-facing cloud-native web apps with high concurrency.

Responsibilities

Lead full-stack maintenance and enhancements for mission-critical web apps.
Provide Tier 3 operations support and incident response.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and IaC practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders and manage documentation/architecture diagrams.
