Job summary

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in functional and technical support of enterprise business applications.

We are seeking an experienced IT Business Systems Analyst to provide functional and technical expertise for enterprise financial and research administration systems. The Business Systems Analyst will serve as a critical bridge between business stakeholders, end users, IT teams, developers, and third-party vendors.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience supporting PeopleSoft Financials, particularly Grants, Contracts, Projects, Billing, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and General Ledger (GL), along with strong SQL, data analysis, requirements gathering, systems analysis, testing, documentation, and production support capabilities.

This position requires an individual who can independently analyze complex business and system problems, translate business requirements into functional specifications, support system enhancements and integrations, and lead cross-functional efforts through the full software development and implementation lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide functional and technical support for enterprise financial, research administration, and related business applications.
• Support and maintain PeopleSoft Financials and Research Administration Systems (RAS), including Grants, Contracts, Projects, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger.
• Analyze complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and provide timely resolution using established incident management and ticketing processes.
• Conduct detailed data analysis, system integrity reviews, and application validation to ensure accurate system processing and business results.
• Partner with Accounting, Research Administration, Academic Departments, Finance, and other business stakeholders to understand operational needs and identify opportunities for system improvements.
• Gather, analyze, document, and prioritize complex business and system requirements.
• Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications, process documentation, system requirements, and technical guidance for development teams.
• Collaborate closely with in-house developers, technical teams, implementation partners, and third-party vendors throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Analyze application functionality, data structures, integrations, and dependencies to determine appropriate system solutions.
• Support application design, configuration, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, system, regression, and end-user acceptance testing (UAT) activities.
• Validate system functionality and business processes following application upgrades, fixes, enhancements, and new implementations.
• Identify key design dependencies, decision points, risks, and impacts associated with proposed system changes.
• Follow established Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), change management, release management, documentation, and knowledge management procedures.
• Create and maintain functional documentation, technical documentation, process flows, test plans, test cases, training materials, and other system support documentation.
• Develop training and knowledge-transfer materials to support end users, system changes, and new functionality.
• Provide ongoing production support and subject matter expertise for supported applications and business processes.
• Collaborate with enterprise application teams to ensure successful implementation and support of financial and administrative systems.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to resolve highly complex business and systems issues.
• Communicate technical and business information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences at various organizational levels.
• Work independently with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating effectively across IT and business teams.

Required Technical & Functional Skills

• 5+ years of experience in functional and technical support of enterprise business applications.
• Strong experience with PeopleSoft Financials and/or Research Administration Systems (RAS).
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following PeopleSoft modules:
• Grants
• Contracts
• Projects
• Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Accounts Payable (AP)
• General Ledger (GL)
• Strong knowledge of relational database structures, tables, data relationships, application functionality, integrations, and system processes.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, including query development, data extraction, data validation, data organization, and analysis.
• Strong experience with business requirements gathering, requirements analysis, functional specifications, and system documentation.
• Advanced understanding of application design principles and functional/technical documentation standards.
• Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, including integration testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Experience supporting enterprise applications through implementation, maintenance, enhancements, upgrades, and production support.
• Experience working with software developers, IT teams, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors.
• Demonstrated understanding of IT change management, SDLC, release management, and production support processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex issues and determine appropriate solutions.
