Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking a Senior IT Business Analyst for Research IT focusing on Sample Management and Reagent Management within Drug Discovery Research. You will collaborate with bench scientists and informatics to translate workflows into digital requirements and prototype solutions that accelerate discovery.

The role combines business analysis with hands-on development, including low-code/no-code tooling, Python/SQL scripting, and AI-enabled capabilities.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Life Sciences or technical discipline.
• 5+ years IT experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences environments.
• Hands-on experience with sample management and/or reagent management.
• Elicits, documents, and manages requirements (user stories, process maps, use cases).
• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies in IT services.
• Proficiency in SQL and/or Python for data querying or scripting.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
• Track record delivering high-value digital capability projects on time and budget.

Responsibilities

• Build deep domain knowledge of sample and reagent management processes.
• Translate scientific workflows into actionable digital requirements.
• Prototype thin-slice solutions (scripts, workflows, UI mock-ups) to accelerate delivery.
• Partner with engineers and researchers to bridge business needs and technical work.
• Define acceptance criteria, support UAT, and ensure delivery meets business outcomes.
• Lead rapid POCs to validate feasibility and reduce risk.
• Oversee junior IT business analysts and consultants.
