Qualifications

Job description

As a Senior IT Asset Analyst, you will play a vital role in managing and optimizing the organization’s IT asset portfolio, including software and hardware resources. This position is responsible for the full lifecycle of IT asset management functions, from procurement through retirement, with significant emphasis on compliance, process improvement, and best practices in technology environments.

  • Administer IT procurement, including obtaining quotes, purchasing hardware and software, and ensuring alignment with IT standards and approved processes.
  • Utilize and audit IT purchasing systems; track asset receiving workflows and maintain communication with relevant staff regarding equipment ETAs and receipts.
  • Tag and track IT asset deployments for specific projects and maintain asset accuracy through system audits and inventory management.
  • Review and interpret IT contracts including software agreements, EUAs, contractor, and confidentiality agreements to ensure compliance.
  • Support basic budgeting and accounting: research payments, track invoices, and assign appropriate department account numbers.
  • Maintain and update Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM) systems for requests and incidents, ensuring data integrity and timeliness.
  • Assist IT Asset Analyst teams in responding to Service Now requests and support procurement and deployment activities as needed.
  • Create and implement educational plans to inform the organization about IT asset processes and policies for improved adoption and compliance.
  • Collaborate with management to develop, revise, and enforce IT asset procedures and policies to optimize the enterprise environment.
  • Mentor IT Asset Analyst peers, serve as an escalation point within the team, and promote productive, positive team dynamics.
  • Manage hardware asset tracking and administration, including lifecycle reports, lease management, replacement planning, and acquisition recommendations.
  • Ensure hardware and software inventories are accurate and report on asset locations and status using tools such as Absolute, Service Now, and PDQ Inventory.
  • Conduct software license administration, including license tracking, renewal monitoring, compliance assessments, and database maintenance.
  • Participate in and lead software license audits, collaborate with vendors on invoicing and licensing accuracy, and negotiate contracts and EULAs for cost optimization.
  • Manage and standardize software licenses and purchasing documentation to support compliance, risk mitigation, and effective asset management practices.
  • 5–7 years experience in IT asset management or a related field, including hands‑on auditing of hardware and software assets.
  • In‑depth knowledge of hardware and software terminology, licensing models, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to use IT purchasing, ordering, and billing/invoicing systems.
  • Ability to develop and execute search queries or filters to identify hardware and software within IT asset inventories.
  • Strong process improvement skills—able to develop, document, and implement new procedures to optimize asset management and risk avoidance.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills for collaboration with teams, end‑users, and vendors.
  • Proficiency with asset management, inventory, and discovery tools (e.g., Absolute, Service Now, PDQ Inventory).
  • Experience in budgeting, cost tracking, invoice reconciliation, and maximizing ROI through hardware/software standardization.
  • Proven ability to mentor peers, provide escalation support, and contribute to a constructive team environment.
  • Strong skills in prioritizing projects and meeting deadlines under the guidance of IT leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in a computer‑related field required; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications preferred or required include: CHAMP (Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional), CAMP (Certified Asset Management Professional), CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager), CMAM (Certified Mobility Asset Management), CITAD (Certified IT Asset Disposal). Preferred certifications: CAMSE (Certified Asset Management Security Expert), CITAM (Certified IT Asset Manager).
