Job summary

City of Goldsboro in North Carolina seeks an IT Architect to design and govern secure, scalable solutions across enterprise apps, data/analytics, infrastructure, and cloud platforms. You will translate requirements into architecture roadmaps, lead or advise delivery teams, and document standards for long-term value.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years IT with architecture experience; strong knowledge of CJIS/HIPAA/PCI security standards and experience with Azure Logic Apps and APIs integration.

Qualifications

• Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in information systems, CS, engineering, or related field, or 4 additional years of related experience.
• 7+ years IT experience with at least 3 years in architecture, design, or senior engineering roles; 10+ years for senior level.
• Master’s degree may substitute for up to 2 years of experience.
• Knowledge of enterprise platforms, cloud services (Azure), data, security, and integration technologies.

Responsibilities

• Elicit and refine business/technical requirements; translate into target architecture and implementation plans.
• Define and advocate technology standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns.
• Produce architecture deliverables and maintain them current.
• Guide solution delivery across the lifecycle and support operations readiness.
• Embed security-by-design practices aligned with CJIS, HIPAA, PCI.
• Engineer for reliability, performance, and cost efficiency; use IaC and scripting.
• Contribute to DR/BC strategies including backup, failover, resilience testing.
• Evaluate products/services and manage vendor engagements; validate contractor work.
• Mentor peers and provide technical leadership across teams.
