Job summary

Brooksource seeks an experienced ISP Field Technician for a 6-month on-site contract in Bethpage, NY. You will install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain telecom equipment at customer premises, COLO, and data centers, working with DWDM networks and ROADM/SONET systems.

You will perform OTDR testing, fiber characterization, and circuit turn-ups, collaborating with engineering teams and maintaining thorough documentation. The role requires flexibility for evenings/weekends and on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in installation, provisioning, and repair of telecom equipment.
• Experience across Ethernet, DWDM, CWDM, WAN/LAN, and TCP/IP applications.
• Strong knowledge of safety and industry regulations and testing tools.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot telecom equipment at customer sites and data centers.
• Conduct OTDR tests, power meter tests, and insertion loss measurements on dark fiber networks.
• Analyze OTDR traces to locate faults, splices, connectors, and reflectance issues.
• Coordinate with Engineering & Activation teams for circuit turn-ups and migrations.
• Maintain and document test results, fiber plant layouts, and work orders.
• Proactively test and turn up network facility circuits in Data Center/COLO locations.
