Job summary

Selby Jennings in Bedford Park, IL is seeking a Senior iSeries Developer to join our technology team in a hybrid capacity. You will maintain and modernize core IBM i applications (RPG IV/ILE, RPG Free, CL, SQL) and collaborate across business units on policy administration, billing, underwriting, and claims systems.

You will work with Visual Studio Code and IBM i extensions to design APIs and web services, applying AI-assisted tools to accelerate development while preserving mission-critical RPG

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering complex applications through the full software development lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience with RPG IV/ILE, RPG Free, CL, SQL, and Embedded SQL in RPG.
• Experience developing and supporting business-critical enterprise applications.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Enhance, maintain, and support core IBM i applications using RPG IV/ILE and RPG Free.
• Participate in full SDLC: requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to craft functional and technical specifications.
• Conduct code reviews, unit tests, and coordinate with QA for high-quality solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and promote coding standards and deployment processes.
• Modernize applications using SQL, APIs, web services, and AI-assisted tools.
• Troubleshoot production incidents and assist with Help Desk escalations as needed.
