General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp. is seeking experienced engineers to support the construction of IPS Motor Modules and the testing of IPS components for Columbia-class submarines in Philadelphia, PA.

The role includes design and deck plate support for main propulsion systems during assembly and pre-production tests, with a training rotation in New London, CT. The position is permanent and onsite in Philadelphia, reporting to the D489 CLB Propulsion Engineering team.

Formación

• Bachelor of Science in engineering or related technical field is required.
• 5–14 years of post-graduate engineering experience is required.
• Masters degree preferred.
• 1–14 year(s) of COLUMBIA or VA engineering experience preferred.
• Knowledge of the COLUMBIA IPS component and NAVSEA/NNL relationships preferred.
• Experience with MIL Standards and control systems or power electronics preferred.
• Deck plate work evolutions and interfacing with Operations and Test preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Determine root causes of IPS cognizant issues and expeditiously correct deficiencies to minimize interruptions
• Perform surveillances of work being performed under area of cognizance
• Act as a primary Electric Boat contact for on-site IPS component suppliers
• Support development of IPS cognizant component group engineering directions
• Support other locations with issue resolution of COLUMBIA specific equipment
• Support construction activities and shipboard integration at Electric Boat manufacturing facilities
• Gather data / information to support development of COLUMBIA IPS design and documentation improvements
• Interface with technical and management personnel at NAVSEA, NNL, NSWC, and vendors
• Support IPS test programs as applicable
• Mentor to entry level engineers
• Work as a component shift lead
• Advisor to management (Specialist)
