Job summary

The University of Central Florida Board of Trustees seeks a Senior Licensing Associate within the Technology Transfer Office to manage transfer of physical science technologies from the university into commercial sectors. You will oversee technology review, IP protection, license negotiations, and promotion at events; build relationships with researchers and industry partners; supervise staff and interns; deliver workshops on IP topics.

Anticipated salary range $80,000 - $95,000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Preferred: Master's in Engineering or related physical science.
• 3+ years of drafting, negotiating, and implementing legal agreements.
• Strong customer service orientation with experience collaborating with faculty, legal teams, and external partners.
• Proven business development and finance acumen.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication; ability to build relationships.
• Familiarity with patent assessment and market research methodologies.
• Prior experience in technology transfer and outbound software licensing.

Responsibilities

• Manages protection and licensing of IP portfolio including patents, trademarks and copyrights.
• Drafts and negotiates license agreements and other agreements (material transfer, inter-institutional, NDAs).
• Assesses new technologies and identifies commercial uses with IP protection recommendations.
• Leads outreach to commercialize technologies and promotes them at conferences and to industry.
• Reviews, edits IP terms for sponsored research and coordinates with contract manager, GC, PI, and sponsors.
• Attracts and cultivates relationships with researchers, entrepreneurs and industry partners; supervises staff and interns.
