Job summary

Intuitive is seeking a Counsel/Senior Counsel, IP, to partner with engineers, data scientists, and medical experts to advance surgical robotics and medical technology at a global leader in minimally invasive care.

The role focuses on leading patent strategy, managing prosecution, and supporting IP-related transactions, licensing, and due diligence while collaborating with executives across the business.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in IP law with emphasis on patent prosecution.
• 2+ years in-house experience preferred with patent portfolio management.
• Technical background in medical devices or robotics is preferred.
• J.D. and California bar in good standing, RHIC eligibility, and USPTO admission required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage active patent portfolio, including applications and prosecutions.
• Support IP-related transactions: NDAs, collaborations, product development agreements.
• Advise on IP strategies for M&A and licensing, including due diligence.
• Provide litigation support, trademark and trade secret protection.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, management, and executives to translate tech into IP protection.
