Job summary

Werfen is seeking an IP Counsel in Bedford, MA to deliver high-quality patent strategy and portfolio development across our diagnostics platforms.

Reporting to the Chief IP Counsel, you will conduct freedom-to-operate studies, manage outside counsel, and collaborate with marketing, R&D, and leadership to align IP with business goals. Requires strong drafting, prosecution skills, and US bar admission.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited U.S. law school and bar admission.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant law firm experience.
• Solid experience drafting and prosecuting patents.
• Knowledge of major jurisdictions' patent law, software, hardware, diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage IP portfolios for Werfen's businesses.
• Perform freedom-to-operate studies and due diligence.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and internal clients.
• Support trademark and IP related agreements.
• Stay current with evolving IP laws in major jurisdictions.
• Travel up to 5% in the US.
