Job summary

Takeda is seeking a Global Head of Intellectual Property in Boston, overseeing a cohesive worldwide IP program for therapies from small molecules to biologics. You will lead patent strategy, filing, prosecution, and maintenance across key jurisdictions, partnering with R&D, regulatory, and business teams to maximize portfolio value.

You will mentor in-house IP attorneys and professionals, shape playbooks, manage budget and outside counsel, and drive a high-impact IP function aligned with company

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with strong IP background.
• 15+ years of IP legal experience, with 7+ years in-house in pharma/biotech.
• USPTO registration and deep understanding of global patent law.

Responsibilities

• Design, own, and refine a worldwide IP strategy aligned to business priorities.
• Lead patent drafting, filing, prosecution, and maintenance across key jurisdictions.
• Proactively identify inventions and oversee FTO, patentability, and infringement analyses.
• Provide Hatch-Waxman counseling, exclusivity planning, and PTE coordination.
• Lead IP diligence and deal support for licensing, collaborations, and acquisitions.
• Direct IP litigation, opposition, and enforcement with outside counsel.
