Job summary

TEGNA Inc. in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Senior iOS Developer to lead the evolution of our native iOS news platform used by 50+ stations from a single shared codebase.

Design, build, and ship features using Swift and SwiftUI, mentor teammates, and tackle performance and architecture challenges in a MVVM + Coordinator based stack. Hybrid role with in-office and remote work in Knoxville.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years building native iOS applications with Swift.
• Hands-on experience with SwiftUI and modern iOS UI development.
• Solid understanding of app architecture patterns (MVVM, Coordinators) and separation of concerns.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship features for our native iOS app using Swift and SwiftUI, aligned with the product roadmap and our engineering standards.
• Own significant areas of the codebase and serve as a key resource for investigating and resolving complex product issues.
• Write efficient, reusable, and reliable code within our MVVM + Coordinator architecture and modular, config-driven content system.
• Identify performance bottlenecks—especially around video playback, memory usage, and view rendering—and drive solutions.
• Mentor other developers through code review, pairing, and technical guidance.
• Collaborate with developers, designers, and product/business managers to translate requirements into well-architected solutions.
• Help maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes across our multi-station builds.
• Rapidly learn new technologies and adapt to changing business and customer needs.
