Job summary

The New York Times is seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to lead the evolution of behavioral data tools and mobile data infrastructure powering our News, Games, Cooking and The Athletic apps. You will shape event collection, analytics instrumentation, and data contracts at scale, collaborating with product and analytics teams.

Based in New York City, this hybrid role reports to the Senior Engineering Manager within Data Platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience building native iOS applications in Swift.
• Experience with analytics systems, event-driven architectures, or experimentation frameworks.
• Ownership of large technical initiatives from design through rollout.
• Knowledge of privacy considerations and compliance in mobile apps.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship iOS features by enhancing existing code and creating new functionality from scratch.
• Write clean, maintainable code using Swift and SwiftUI.
• Participate in code reviews and write unit tests; collaborate with QA for automated tests.
• Contribute to app architecture decisions, documentation, and technical roadmaps.
• Integrate with internal NY Times services and external APIs.
• Support the mission of journalistic independence and accuracy.
