The New York Times Company in New York, NY seeks a Senior Engineering Manager for Games Mobile Apps to lead iOS and Android efforts and drive the next generation of NYT Games on mobile. Hybrid role with 2-3+ days in the New York City HQ, focusing on a premier puzzle game platform integrated in the NYTimes bundle.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and design teams, and shape a scalable mobile architecture while embracing AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of strategic leadership experience managing high-performing native mobile engineering teams.
• Deep technical fluency in building complex, high-performance iOS mobile apps and ability to guide Android roadmaps.
• Experience with AI tooling for mobile development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of iOS and Android engineers, including an Engineering Manager, using Swift and Kotlin.
• Define and drive a multi-year technical strategy for the mobile platform, balancing features with scalability.
• Develop people and teams through coaching, mentoring and feedback.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers and producers to deliver high-quality mobile products.
• Modernize development lifecycle by scaling best practices and AI-assisted tools.
• Work with App Platforms to implement best practices around architecture and coding standards.
• Support journalistic independence and NYTimes mission.
