Dimensional Fund Advisors in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Investment Data Platform Engineer to lead the data platform that unifies multi-source investment data and powers client analytics across portfolios.

You will architect scalable, secure infrastructure, mentor engineers, and partner with product and technology leaders to deliver reliable data contracts, SLAs, and high-performance query capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, or similar technical discipline.
• 10+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, with a proven track record of architecting enterprise data platforms.
• Deep expertise in production Python, advanced SQL tuning, orchestrators (e.g. Airflow), data transformation frameworks (e.g. dbt).
• Strong experience designing robust APIs and streaming architectures (e.g. Kafka) to serve data to external-facing web applications.
• Master-level understanding of data warehousing concepts, semantic layer design, and modeling for financial markets or portfolio analytics.
• 3+ years of direct engineering management experience.
• Familiarity with institutional investment datasets (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, MSCI).
• This role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build, and evolution of a scalable data platform architecture for multi-source investment data.
• Architect data infrastructure to serve high-concurrency client tools and low-latency internal analytics.
• Implement robust data patterns, discovery tools, and optimized compute layers for ad hoc queries without degradation.
• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of investment engineers with hands-on system design and code reviews.
• Establish data quality frameworks, lineage tracking, and security controls across data products.
• Collaborate with downstream teams, product managers, and technology executives to define data contracts, SLAs, and roadmaps.
