Job summary

Fortitude Reinsurance Company Ltd. is seeking a Senior Associate of Investment Accounting to compile monthly and quarterly investment data, analyze net investment income, yields, and gains, and support GL entries, reconciliations, audits, and regulatory disclosures.

The role reports to the VP, Derivative Accounting, and offers opportunities to contribute to system enhancements, AI-enabled tooling, and continuous process improvement across a broad portfolio of assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry or financial services.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and STAT investment accounting principles.
• Knowledge of derivative accounting principles (ASC 815).
• Familiarity with reinsurance structures and investment implications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the accounting close process, including preparation of journal entries and corresponding balance sheet reconciliations for GAAP and STAT bases of accounting.
• Perform analytical review of investment income, yields, fair value changes, and gains/losses.
• Support statutory and GAAP investment disclosures and footnotes.
• Assist in onboarding of new investment portfolios and block acquisitions.
• Support regulatory filings and Bermuda Monetary Authority requirements.
• Execute internal control procedures over diverse asset classes including derivatives, fixed income, equities, and real estate.
• Provide detailed investment data for Economic Balance Sheet calculations and Bermuda reporting.
• Work with investment accounting platform to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Monitor and resolve issues related to investment suspense accounts.
• Identify control gaps and drive improvements to mitigate risk.
• Lead private equity operations data extraction and system uploads.
• Drive continuous improvement in the investment close cycle and participate in system enhancements.
