Job summary

AES is seeking an engineer to provide critical technical support for AESCE inverter fleets, focusing on reliability, performance, and cost. You will work with reliability engineers to assess new technologies, participate in RCA-driven improvements, and help move aging assets toward modern designs while ensuring grid interconnection safety and compliance.

Your role includes developing maintenance procedures, sharing benchmarks across the industry, and leading optimization projects using AES APEX

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with 3–5 years in HV design, solar, storage, or utilities.
• Experience with data acquisition and SCADA is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting, adaptability, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for troubleshooting, testing and maintenance of AESCE inverter fleet.
• Coordinate with reliability and performance engineers on improvement technologies.
• Share lessons learned and benchmarking with AES and industry leaders.
• Monitor inverter tech and safety innovations and advise design teams.
• Develop O&M cost assumptions for new inverter opportunity evaluations in US markets.
• Lead technical projects to enhance asset performance and operations.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis and follow RCA procedures for incidents.
• Develop Recovery Plans based on RCA findings and manage changes.
• Implement Asset Management Standards and Diagnostics.
• Develop PM procedures with OEM manuals alongside engineers.
• Assist in SOPs and training for O&M teams, and lead AES APEX/Lean Six Sigma projects.
• Develop strategy for aging assets towards newer designs and assess proposals for upgrades.
• Evaluate inverter settings for grid interconnection, performance and safety implications.
• Recommend equipment updates or replacements for repowering PV sites at end of life.
