Job summary

WHSmith North America is seeking a Senior Accountant, Inventory Accounting & Analysis to support financial accounting, reporting, and control of company inventory assets in Las Vegas. You will handle month-end close activities, inventory-related journal entries, reconciliations, and stock provisions, driving accurate COGS and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting or inventory experience.
• Strong knowledge of GL accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, month/year-end close, and COGS.
• Experience with inventory reserves, obsolescence, shrink, waste, and safety controls.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to build repeatable financial models.
• Experience with SQL, Power BI, or similar data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze shrink, waste, damage, obsolete stock and risks to identify trends and financial exposure.
• Analyze inventory valuation, cost movements, gross margin, and COGS; explain variances.
• Develop recurring and ad hoc reporting to support close, forecasting, and inventory risk.
• Partner with Inventory Control, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Support physical inventory and cycle counts; reconcile results to GL and inventory systems.
• Identify improvements to inventory accounting processes, controls, and reporting.
• Communicate results, risks, and required actions to leadership.
• Prepare stock and shrink provisions and evaluate reserve adequacy.
