Job summary

BDO USA is seeking a Tax Senior, Customs & International Trade, to advise clients on import/export matters and identify trade opportunities across industries. You will apply research skills and tax knowledge to deliver practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong communication, team leadership, and the ability to manage multiple engagements while maintaining deadlines. CPA/attorney credentials or equivalents are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field, required.
• Juris Doctorate, LLM, or MBA preferred.
• Two (2) or more years of experience in import/export trade consulting as a customs attorney, customs broker, industry trade specialist, US Customs auditor or import specialist, required.
• CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) or licensed customs broker (or the equivalent of one of these designations), preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Researches, writes, and reviews international trade advice related to HTS, regulations, NAFTA, entry processes and valuation.
• Researches U.S. and international import/export trade matters.
• Formulates ideas and delivers possible trade savings opportunities.
• Mentors and collaborates with firm specialists and client service teams.
• Organizes and conducts internal CPE training sessions in the area of specialization.
• Establishes relationships with BDO customs experts across jurisdictions.
• Identifies opportunities for and assists in drafting tax alerts in international customs and global trade tax matters.
• Assists in managing client expectations.
