Job summary

City of Arlington seeks a Senior Internal Auditor to lead complex audits at the City Auditor's Office, Arlington Municipal Building. Under general supervision, you will conduct performance, compliance, information systems, and financial audits and may investigate fraud as needed.

The role also assists the City Auditor in preparing the Annual Risk Assessment and directs audit staff to ensure timely, accurate results and meaningful recommendations across city departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field with 4+ years internal auditing experience or equivalent.
• Certifications such as CIA, CGAP, CPA, CISA or CFE encouraged.
• Governmental environment experience preferred.
• Ability to lead audits and supervise staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead municipal audit projects, directing and reviewing audit staff.
• Provide supervision to audit staff and interns.
• Develop audit programs within project budgets.
• Collect, analyze and evaluate information per standards.
• Conduct interviews with senior management.
• Document evidence and conclusions to support findings.
• Plan and execute follow-up audits on prior recommendations.
• Perform complex special assignments as needed.
• Maintain 80 hours of continuing education every two years.
