Job summary

Opaline Interiors Studio in Wellesley, MA seeks a Senior Interior Designer & Project Manager to lead luxury residential projects from concept through installation. You will partner with the Principal to deliver bespoke spaces, manage budgets, and supervise design teams.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential. The role requires on-site presence four days weekly, site measures, and regular coordination with architects, contractors, and vendors across New England.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–7 years of professional experience in luxury residential interior design and project management.
  • Demonstrated client-facing experience with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Intuitive design sense and design point of view.
  • Familiarity with high-end interior vendors and resources.
  • Deep understanding of the construction process.
  • Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD and SketchUp; strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge of Studio Designer software a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; excellent collaboration and organization.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks; problem solver.
  • Access to a car and willingness to travel to job sites across New England.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple residential design projects from schematic design through installation alongside Principal.
  • Attend site measures with the Technical Designer.
  • Create detailed design concepts and drawings including space plans and elevations.
  • Source, specify, and price materials, fixtures, furnishings and fabrics for Principal review.
  • Prepare specifications for custom window treatments, millwork, furnishings, wallpaper, and oversee quoting.
  • Prepare presentations and finish boards for client meetings; ensure information is accurate.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, profitability, schedules, and installation timelines.
  • Participate in client meetings, maintain agendas and notes.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, vendors, and workrooms; ensure thoughtful execution.
  • Oversee multiple projects in construction with Principal oversight.
  • Communicate with clients about progress, next steps, and items outstanding.
  • Attend site visits weekly and assist with installs, deliveries, and photoshoots.

Senior Interior Designer & Project Manager

STUDIO LOCATION: 103 Central Street, Suite B, Wellesley, MA

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, minimum of 4 days in office

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our studio is looking for a creative, organized and highly motivated senior designer for our growing studio. Working closely alongside the studio’s Principal and design team, the candidate will be working to develop bespoke, luxury interior spaces from conception through to completion.

We’re looking for a candidate with an enthusiastic mindset, incredible attention to detail, and passion for interior design that thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, design, communication, organizational, budgeting, and project management skills. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead multiple residential design projects from schematic design through installation alongside Principal
  • Attend site measures with our studio’s Technical Designer
  • Create detailed design concepts and develop drawings alongside the Technical Designer, to include space plans, detailed floor plans, furniture plans, elevations, ceiling plans, and millwork designs
  • Source, specify, and price materials, fixtures, furnishings and fabrics for Principal review
  • Prepare specifications for custom window treatments, millwork, custom furnishings, wallpaper installations, and other specialty vendors and oversee quoting process
  • Prepare presentations and finish boards for client meetings, overseeing the team to ensure all information is accurate and comprehensive
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, profitability, schedules, and installation timelines
  • Participate in client meetings with Principal designer, maintaining meeting agendas and notes
  • Coordinate and collaborate professionally with architects, contractors, vendors, and workrooms
  • Communicate design intent and details to Technical Designer and Procurement Specialist for construction drawings, specification production, and procurement to ensure thoughtful execution
  • With Principal’s oversight and general direction, oversee multiple projects in construction simultaneously:
  • Assist in the coordination of project activities with clients, contractors, vendors, and our Procurement Specialist
  • Communicate with clients about construction progress, next steps, open items, and site questions throughout process
  • Communicate with contractor and team to manage project timelines and to ensure delivery and install targets are met
  • Attend site visits as required by project construction schedule (weekly)
  • Assist with project installs, deliveries, and photoshoots in collaboration with entire team
JOB QUALIFICATONS
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in luxury residential interior design & project management
  • Demonstrated experience in a client-facing role, with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Intuitive design sense and design point of view
  • Familiarity with high-end interiors vendors and resources
  • Deep understanding of the construction process
  • Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD and Sketchup
  • Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Studio Designer software a plus
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent collaboration, organization and project management skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Problem solver with solutions-focused approach
  • Access to a car and willingness to travel to job sites across New England for meetings
  • Friendly demeanor with a positive, can-do attitude
