Job description

Accepting applications for interior designers with 5-10 years of experience, preferably in NYC market

ABOUT THE FIRM

Studio Bloom is proud to partner with a boutique luxury residential design studio in Chelsea, Manhattan, just steps from FIT and Penn Station. Known for creating sophisticated, highly personalized homes, our client specializes in thoughtfully designed interiors that balance beauty, functionality, and exceptional craftsmanship.

Working closely with discerning clients, architects, consultants, artisans, and builders, the studio leads complex residential renovations from concept through installation. Every project is deeply customized—from intricate millwork and bespoke furnishings to detailed construction documentation and seamless execution. Their work is rooted in timeless design, exceptional craftsmanship, and creating homes that authentically reflect the people who live in them.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an opportunity for an experienced, mid to senior level luxury residential designer who is looking for more than simply managing projects. It's a chance to become one of the Principal's closest collaborators within a boutique studio where your ideas, initiative, and technical expertise will genuinely shape both the projects and the future of the business.

Working directly alongside the Principal, you'll help lead sophisticated projects from concept through installation while bringing structure, momentum, and technical expertise to every stage of the design process. Your days will be varied—balancing design development, technical documentation, consultant coordination, construction administration, client interaction, job site visits, and problem-solving.

We're seeking a designer with 5–10 years of luxury residential experience, who has successfully led complex projects and possesses an exceptional technical foundation. While experience is important, we're ultimately more interested in the depth of your expertise, your mindset, and your ability to independently move projects forward.

If you're someone who naturally thinks several steps ahead, enjoys solving problems before they become problems, and believes no task is beneath you when working toward a common goal, you'll likely thrive here.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Principal on luxury residential projects from concept through installation.
  • Produce and/or oversee detailed drawing sets, construction documentation, custom millwork, and technical design packages.
  • Develop thoughtful space plans, design concepts, presentations, and furniture, lighting, finish, and material specifications.
  • Coordinate architects, consultants, contractors, vendors, schedules, and day-to-day project activities to keep projects organized and moving forward.
  • Participate in construction administration, site visits, installations, and field coordination while proactively identifying and resolving project challenges.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, InDesign, Photoshop, Studio Designer, Asana, and related software to support project execution and procurement coordination.
  • Represent the studio with professionalism and polish when interacting with clients, consultants, and industry partners.
  • As trust is built, take on increasing ownership of client communication, presentations, project leadership, and future team mentorship.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • 5–10 years of experience in luxury residential interior design; Experience working within New York City's residential design market is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading sophisticated residential projects from concept through installation.
  • Exceptional technical proficiency in AutoCAD, construction documentation, detailing, and custom millwork.
  • Strong understanding of construction administration, consultant coordination, and complex residential project execution.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Someone who naturally takes ownership, anticipates next steps, and enjoys creating structure rather than waiting for direction.
  • Curious, adaptable, emotionally mature, and excited to contribute within a collaborative boutique studio.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Studio Designer, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign & Photoshop), Asana, Slack, Google Workspace, Dropbox, and Microsoft Office. Experience with SketchUp, Rhino, or other 3D modeling software is a plus. Comfort working in a Mac-based environment is also preferred.
WHAT WE OFFER
  • Competitive salary: $85,000–$120,000 depending on experience + discretionary bonus
  • 50% employer-paid health insurance. Access to dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) through the firm's benefits platform.
  • Two weeks PTO, paid holidays, plus the week between Christmas and New Year's
  • Continuing education and professional development opportunities
  • Summer Fridays (flexibility to wrap up early when project schedules allow and the week's priorities are complete)
  • Work remotely for up to one week each year—perfect for extending a trip or spending time with family while staying connected
  • $50 monthly cell phone reimbursement and MetroCard benefit
  • Beautifully curated Chelsea studio with premium espresso and tea, thoughtfully stocked snacks and meals, and an environment where people genuinely enjoy coming to work
  • Work directly alongside a Principal who is deeply invested in continuous learning, exceptional craftsmanship, and mentoring a team built on trust, ownership, and collaboration
  • Opportunity to help shape the future of a growing boutique design studio
