Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Interior Designer III to contribute to high‑profile projects. You’ll bring a formal interior design education, 8+ years of experience, and a strong command of layout, materials, lighting, and codes to lead design efforts.

You’ll collaborate with Project Managers, Architects, and consultants, develop technical viewpoints, and mentor junior staff while balancing multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative, client‑facing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or equivalent.
• 8+ years proven interior design experience, preferred.
• Certification as a licensed professional is preferred, but not required.
• Expertise in layout, color, lighting, materials selection and installations.
• Experience with Revit, Adobe Creative Suite or other design programs.
• Knowledge of ADA Codes, building materials and construction details.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Sharp eye for quality assurance and an attention to detail.
• Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to adapt with changing business needs.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the conceptual design and provide full support through the entire project.
• Liaise with Project Manager, Architects and consultants.
• Develop and represent lead technical viewpoint on projects.
• Coordinate with departmental leaders on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies.
• Participate in projects appropriate to the level of this position.
• Provide subject matter expertise on specific components of Interior Design.
• Carry out design assignments requiring development of new or improved techniques or design.
• Work with a senior-level designer on more complex projects.
