Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead interior design across project phases, from programming and space planning to construction documentation and administration. Position requires NCIDQ certification, 8+ years’ experience, and ability to manage large teams and complex projects.

Responsibilities include directing design concepts, coordinating with Architects/Engineers, ensuring code compliance, QA/QC, and client-facing leadership. Travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in interior design, interior architecture, or similar field Required or
• Master Degree in interior design, interior architecture, or similar field Required

Responsibilities

• Lead design concepts, furniture and finish selections, and technical applications.
• Lead the review of interior design drawings to ensure they are implemented within scope, expectations, technical accuracy, budget and schedule.
• Lead the review process for design concepts, technical accuracy, cross-coordination, and code compliance.
• Build effective relationships with Architects and Engineers. Review all disciplines of construction drawings.
• Responsible for maintaining conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes
• Lead design concepts and proposals to clients, incorporating feedback and making necessary adjustments.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the architectural practice. Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff.
• Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
• Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned
