Job summary

Paylocity is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to lead project design teams from concept through construction documentation and administration on complex design projects. This role focuses on maintaining design quality, leading multidisciplinary teams, and serving as a client-facing design leader who builds strong client relationships and represents the firm throughout the project process.

The position supports the Design Studio as a full-time, remote-capable role with in-person collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design.
• 10-15+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3DS Max/Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office.
• Knowledge of building codes and accessibility requirements.
• Knowledge of building systems, standards, construction techniques, and building structures.
• Proven ability to lead large and complex design projects and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Demonstrated ability to provide analytical thinking and creative problem solving.
• NCIDQ Certification preferred.
• Pursuit of LEED, Fitwel, RELi, WELL Building Standard, or similar certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong client relationships that support long-term business development.
• Support business development efforts through networking, prospective client meetings, project pursuits, interviews, and industry events.
• Collaborate with senior firm members to improve design, documentation, project delivery, QA/QC, and firm initiatives.
• Lead and participate in a dynamic, creative, collaborative firm environment.
• Attend Owner/Client meetings and lead or participate in presentations.
• Represent the Design Studio within the local market and coordinate with leadership.
• Support projects across markets and collaborate with teams regardless of location.
• Oversee space planning concepts, conceptual design, and design development.
• Oversee graphic presentations and communication of design concepts, and lead client design presentations.
• Develop innovative solutions and lead large project teams, coordinating with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and civil consultants.
• Provide technical guidance to ensure alignment with scope, budget, and client goals.
• Work with Preconstruction and Delivery teams to balance design concepts with constructability and budgets.
• Represent the Design team during construction, including site visits and submittals.
• Conduct product research and develop specifications as required.
• Assist in development of project schedules and resource loading.
• Ensure compliance with zoning and building codes; interface with permitting officials.

The Senior Interior Designer is responsible for leading project design teams from concept design through construction documentation and administration on multiple large and/or complex design projects. This includes establishing and carrying forward the design vision, maintaining a high standard of design quality, and oversight of project development and coordination across design and engineering disciplines.

This role serves as a client-facing design leader, building strong client relationships, leading design discussions and presentations, and representing the firm throughout the project process. The Senior Interior Designer will also support business development efforts by participating in prospective client meetings, project pursuits, presentations, and relationship-building activities that contribute to new and ongoing opportunities.

The role is also accountable for leadership and mentorship of Architectural and Interior Designers, helping project teams maintain a high standard of design quality, collaboration, and project delivery.

This is a full-time position that will support the Design Studio, working remotely while maintaining close collaboration with the broader team. The role will provide design leadership and client-facing representation within their local market while supporting projects across multiple markets as needed. Regular collaboration with the Design Studio, including in-person presence as required, is an important part of maintaining alignment across the team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other senior members of the firm, including Principals, to support continuous improvement across design, documentation, project delivery, QA/QC, and other firm initiatives.
• Participate in and foster a dynamic, creative, and collaborative firm environment that develops and implements innovative design solutions
• Attend Owner/Client project meetings and lead or participate in presentations or other project-related activities as required
• Serve as a design leader and representative of the Design Studio within their local market, maintaining close collaboration and alignment with Design leadership and project teams
• Support projects across multiple markets as needed, working collaboratively with project teams regardless of location
• Oversee the development of space planning concepts, conceptual design, and design development
• Oversee the development of graphic presentations and communication of design concepts, and lead client design presentations
• Develop innovative solutions and lead large project teams, oversee project documentation, and coordinate with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and civil consultants.
• Oversee all technical aspects of projects to ensure they are aligned with project scope, design, budget, client goals and core requirements. Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges
• Work with Preconstruction and Delivery teams to ensure design concepts are maintained while supporting constructability and project budgets
• Provide Design team representation during the construction phases of projects, including site visits and oversight of submittals, substitution requests, and RFIs
• Conduct relevant product research and develop specifications as required
• Assist in development of project schedules and resource loading
• Ensure project documentation complies with all relevant zoning and building codes
• Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of projects as required
• Adhere to company policies and guidelines established in policies, procedures, and handbooks
• Carry out any task requested that is legal, moral, and in the company’s best interest
• Represent the firm in a professional manner consistent with firm values and culture

Requirements
