Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. Lead the design efforts for all stages of a project, including leadership with the client, contractors, and internal team.
  2. Assist in project management by developing project scope, schedules, job production, quality, and fee management.
  3. Lead programming, conceptualization, development, and integration of strategic design solutions.
  4. Consult with manufacturers, research, and evaluate materials.
  5. Document architectural drawings.
  6. Assist in construction administration, including responding to RFI’s, preparing sketches and addendums (CCD’s), and visiting the construction site to gather information or prepare a punch list.
  7. Oversee the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive design, supervise the preparation of drawings for all project phases, and ensure adherence to guidelines, quality control, standards, and details.
  8. Lead all phases of the design process, including programming and developing workplace standards.
  9. Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching.
  10. Participate in recruitment and interviewing processes as requested.
The ideal candidate has:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience.
  • LEED AP preferred; Architectural or Interior Design registration required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign programs.
  • Technical competence and proven experience in schematic design through construction documents.
  • The ability to contribute to and participate in an interdisciplinary team environment.

SmithGroup offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to meet the needs of a diverse staff. The anticipated salary range for this position is $89,000 to $110,000 annually. Compensation may vary based on experience and qualifications. The position includes eligibility for a performance-based bonus, comprehensive health benefits, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, continuing education reimbursement, paid time off, federal holidays, parental leave, and flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work options.
