Your Opportunity
Join a top 10 global design firm in our Buildings Practice, which provides integrated Interior Design, Architecture, and Engineering services. We are seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join our interdisciplinary team with a specific focus on our education sector.
Our Mid-Atlantic practice, which consists of offices in Charlottesville, VA; Arlington, VA; Washington, DC; Philadelphia, PA; and Minneapolis, MN, is a company-wide leader in educational design. Currently, we focus on the geographic areas in the vicinity of our offices (including Richmond, Central Virginia, and the 64- and 95-corridors) while collaborating across the region to lend our expertise to pursuits and projects further afield (e.g. New York City, Boston, and elsewhere in the Northeast region and beyond).
Our Mid-Atlantic education team is primarily based in Charlottesville, Arlington, and Philadelphia. We work collaboratively across offices with the Arlington office leading projects in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC while the Charlottesville office leads work in the rest of Virginia including the greater-Richmond area. Projects include a range of renovations, additions, and new construction with public and private clients in both K12 and higher education. We’re seeking to grow our team to improve design, increase capacity to win work, and strengthen our leadership team.
As a Senior Interior Designer, you will lead and/or support educational interior planning and design with clients and projects locally, regionally, and nationally as appropriate. A primary role of the Senior Interior Designer is to envision and translate the needs and desires of a client into cohesive design solutions. Our multidisciplinary approach encompasses architecture, interior design, and engineering systems as one cohesive vision and team. A Senior Interior Designer is expected to be an active and collaborative team member, conceptualizing, planning, developing, and documenting varying aspects of interior design of a project including but not limited to space planning, interior architecture, interior materials and palette, specifications and FFE. This process may involve production of or oversight of drawings (2D/3D) and written material to support the conceptual direction of interior design and FFE. This individual will often be required to present their ideas in formal and informal settings internally with the team and externally with clients.
Additionally, this role includes specific focus on leadership within the education studio’s interior design group including client management, business development, and team leadership. In this leadership role you will partner with principals and together be responsible for project performance in terms of client satisfaction, design excellence, financial performance, team mentorship, and technical quality. The role primarily involves client facing leadership and management of the internal team with external consultants. You may be called upon to manage multiple projects of various complexity and scope.
As part of the education leadership team, your role includes supporting how we win, do, and manage the work that drives our practice. The role is intended to assist with the development of strategic growth plans which are set annually and include strategic goals, growth targets, and financial performance targets. You will coauthor and support local/regional education client development in conjunction with the education principals. Specifically, you will target business development with public and private K12 and high education clients in the greater-Richmond area helping to accelerate Stantec’s growth and opportunity in that geographic area.
