Job summary

Nexamp is seeking a Senior Interconnection Engineer to lead and support utility interconnection efforts for PV and distributed generation projects. Hybrid work from NYC, Chicago, Boston, or DC offices with travel to other locations is available.

This role requires 3+ years in interconnection, strong code knowledge, AutoCAD experience, and EIT certification. You will collaborate with engineering, business development, policy, and asset management to optimize project performance and costs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience with utility, solar developer, RTO, or consultancy focused on interconnection.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, IBC, IFC and related industry standards.
• Working knowledge in AutoCAD software.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency with Salesforce, Teams, Power BI, SharePoint.
• EIT Certification and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of utility interconnection applications from submission to project closeout.
• Serve as SME on technical standards and utility requirements for DG projects in the region.
• Review, QA/QC, and interpret interconnection docs, studies, and agreements.
• Provide expert advice during study reviews and recommended outcomes.
• Prepare interconnection cost estimations and hosting capacity analyses.
• Collaborate with Project Managers on value engineering and cost optimization.
• Support negotiations and disputes over timelines and costs.
• Participate in project design reviews and site visit witness tests as required.
