Job summary

The Ohio Department of Health is seeking an experienced Senior MuleSoft Integration Architect / Developer to support the Office of Information Management Systems.

The selected candidate will provide expertise in MuleSoft integration development, API-led connectivity, enterprise integration architecture, API governance, CloudHub 2.0 migration, security, and integration performance optimization.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The position is hybrid. The candidate will be required to attend in-person meetings identified by the project team. Currently, in-person meetings are expected once every two weeks, but this frequency may change based on project requirements.

Position Overview

The Ohio Department of Health is seeking an experienced MuleSoft Integration Developer / Enterprise Architect to support the Office of Information Management Systems.

The selected candidate will provide expertise in MuleSoft integration development, API-led connectivity, enterprise integration architecture, API governance, CloudHub 2.0 migration, security, and integration performance optimization.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and the ability to work effectively with enterprise architects, business analysts, developers, and other technical teams.

Key Technical Requirements

• Expertise in MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including API design, development, and deployment.
• Strong experience with API-led connectivity and the three-layer architecture:
• Experience APIs

• Proficiency in DataWeave 2.0 for data transformation and mapping.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design, document, and govern MuleSoft integration assets and enterprise architecture artifacts.
• Define and maintain API design standards, data mapping/transformation guidelines, integration policies, security controls, and architectural documentation.
• Enforce MuleSoft API governance, versioning standards, and lifecycle management practices.
• Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, integration specifications, and technical documentation.

Electronic Lab Data Integration

• Review the existing Electronic Lab Data ingress architecture.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, latency issues, and reusability gaps.
• Design an updated architecture to improve throughput, reduce latency, and promote modular, reusable integration patterns.

MuleSoft API Modernization

• Update MuleSoft APIs to support JVM 17 runtime requirements.
• Ensure APIs meet FIPS 140-3 compliance requirements.
• Plan and execute API runtime upgrades while maintaining application functionality and security.

CloudHub 2.0 Migration

• Plan and execute the end-to-end migration of MuleSoft APIs to CloudHub 2.0.
• Ensure minimal disruption to downstream consumers.
• Validate API functionality following migration.
• Follow CloudHub 2.0 networking, deployment, and operational best practices.

Development & Integration

• Develop and maintain MuleSoft integrations using Anypoint Platform.
• Design and implement API-led connectivity solutions using Experience, Process, and System APIs.
• Develop DataWeave transformations and mappings.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects, business analysts, and development teams to translate business requirements into integration solutions.

Testing & Monitoring

• Write and maintain MUnit test suites for API correctness, resilience, and regression coverage.
• Monitor integration performance and proactively address throughput, latency, and reliability issues.
• Utilize Anypoint Monitoring, Visualizer, and API Analytics.

Required Experience

• 3–5 years of MuleSoft integration development and enterprise architecture experience.
• 3+ years designing and implementing API-led connectivity solutions.
• 3+ years with CloudHub or CloudHub 2.0 deployment and operations.
• 3+ years with DataWeave 2.0 data transformation and mapping.
• 2+ years working in an Agile/Scrum delivery environment.

Education

• 4-year college degree or equivalent technical study.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on MuleSoft professional who can work across development, integration architecture, API governance, security, testing, monitoring, and CloudHub 2.0 migration. Strong communication and collaboration skills are important because the role requires working across business and technical teams.
