The West Virginia Offices of the Insurance Commissioner seeks a senior attorney to perform advanced legal work and supervise staff in the Legal Regulatory unit. Qualifications

• Admission to practice law in the State of West Virginia
• Seven years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in the practice of law
• One year of trial work and two years in supervisory capacity
• Ability to supervise attorneys and support staff and to plan work

Responsibilities

• Under limited supervision, perform advanced level legal work and supervise staff
• Provide legal advice on insurance matters to the Commissioner and divisions
• Respond to questions on insurance and workers' compensation statutes, rules and case law
• Prepare for and conduct administrative hearings and represent the Commissioner in court as authorized
• Research and draft legislation and rules; prepare memoranda and briefs
• Communicate clearly in written and oral form and supervise a team
