Job summary

Qualifications

• Nine years of legal practice with trial experience in administrative or judicial proceedings.
• Admission to practice law in the State of West Virginia is required.
• Substitution: one year of attorney experience with the agency may count as two years of other qualifying experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as General Counsel and provide legal advice to the executive team on statutes, rules, and regulations.
• Perform advanced legal research, draft memoranda/briefs, and prepare bills and rules.
• Analyze and summarize laws from other states related to insurance issues pending WV.
• Represent the agency before the Legislature and testify before committees; collaborate with committee counsel.
• Correspond with legislators and the public as needed.
• Manage all outside litigation and matters before administrative bodies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
