Job summary

Everlake, a leading life insurance company headquartered in Northbrook, IL, seeks an Attorney, Sr. Manager to provide legal guidance across life and annuity operations, privacy, regulatory, and contracting activities.

You will support multiple business functions, develop guidelines, templates, and process documentation, and manage legal risk to enable business objectives. The role involves advising on product requirements, vendor relationships, compliance, and governance, with collaboration

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Experience in insurance, financial services, or a highly regulated industry.
• Experience supporting life insurance and annuity products, regulatory inquiries, examinations, disputes, investigations.
• Expertise in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on complex contracts.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal counsel on life and annuity insurance issues, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
• Advise on privacy, data protection, records management, and related regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Risk Management, Operations, Technology, HR, Finance, and leadership.
• Develop and maintain legal guidelines, templates, procedures, and playbooks.
• Support regulatory inquiries, examinations, audits, disputes, investigations, and interactions with auditors and regulators.
• Research insurance laws and industry practices; prepare opinions, memoranda, training, and stakeholder guidance.
• Work with external counsel on insurance-related litigation when needed.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and maintain commercial agreements and vendor contracts.
