Job summary

Programming.com seeks an experienced Software Engineer to contribute to robotics and hardware integration projects in production environments. You will apply 7+ years of software engineering expertise, with advanced Python development, to build, maintain, and improve software that directly interacts with physical hardware.

Key focus areas include ownership of major software components, robust debugging, and working within multi-component systems.

Qualifications

7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with advanced hands-on Python development in production environments, preferably involving physical hardware or instrumentation.
Demonstrated ownership of substantial software components or complete engineering projects.
Experience with multithreading, asynchronous execution, event-driven systems, or concurrent processing.
Strong debugging, code review, testing, and software design skills.
Experience maintaining complex applications with multiple dependencies and interconnected components.
Proficiency with Git and established development workflows. Robotics and Hardware Integration

Responsibilities

Direct experience developing or maintaining software that controls physical devices.
Experience working with sensors, motors, actuators, cameras, controllers, or similar hardware.
Understanding of hardware state, device initialization, operating sequences, and failure recovery.
Ability to diagnose issues spanning software and hardware boundaries.
Familiarity with Linux environments and device-level debugging.
